McCombs Candida Plan: Day 29

Previous post on this topic: McCombs Candida Plan: Day 15

I’m at four weeks on Dr. Jeffrey McCombs’ Candida Plan, which I’m doing to rid my body of an overgrowth of fungal candida albicans. That’s four weeks of taking McComb’s supplements, drinking massive amounts of water, taking sweat baths, and eating only animal protein, produce and rice. But a few days ago my holistic health care provider tested me using Muscle Response Testing, which is what McCombs used in his practice when he treated me. She found that I’d be okay to add almonds back in, which I’m VERY grateful for!

It’s still challenging to get all the water inside me each day (4 quarts or 3.8 liters) and I never make it, but besides that it’s mostly going well. I hit a snag last weekend when I went into three days of depression (I’ve struggled with depression most of my life) and couldn’t stop thinking about buttered toast and hamburger buns, but I white-knuckled through it and am proud to have not given in to those cravings! They were emotion-driven cravings and weren’t true indicators of what my body wanted.

How has my health changed since I started? My digestion is much better, rashes and inflammation are down, regularity is better and my sense of taste is more senstive so I don’t need foods to be as sweet or salty as before. But the most important change to me is that my weight is down 11 pounds (just under 5 kg)! I think 11 pounds in 29 days is pretty good. Getting rid of my fatness is the reason I’m doing this, so I’m very encouraged.

I admit that I indulged in the pumpkin part of a piece of pumpkin pie on Nov. 26th and I had some stuffing which contained bread. I paid for that with stomach pain and a lot of burping, so I got back on the wagon and didn’t look back.

And now the food expense record I’ve been keeping. I really do stick to just eating these foods, all of which I buy uncooked (rice cakes are the one processed food I buy):

Day 16 (also November 16th): carrots, bananas, potatoes, apples, sweet potatoes, avocados, salmon, lemons, whole black pepper corns – $22.35

Day 17: ground hamburger meat – $4.69

Day 18: didn’t need to go grocery shopping

Day 19: chicken, eggs, apples, brown rice cakes $10.52

Day 20: bottled seasonings, chicken, apples, potatoes, bananas, papaya – $14.21

Day 21: frozen corn, avocados – $5.07

Day 22: didn’t need to go grocery shopping

Day 23: potatoes, can of chicken & veg soup, bananas, canned sardines – $7.37

(Checked with Dr. McCombs and it turns out I can have canned foods, but not canned tomatoes or canned fruit)

Day 24: 0.87 pound of almond butter $9.78 (not cheap)

Day 24 is also when I went low-level crazy and bought a large order of McDonald’s french fries and ate them standing in the McDonald’s deserted outdoor seating area. I really enjoyed those fries! They were off-diet because the diet requires only cold-pressed oils, but I needed those fries. They were $3.76.

Day 25: eggs, ground hamburger meat, carrots, bananas, limes, apples – $11.55

Days 26 & 27: American Thanksgiving meant I had festive meals that I didn’t shop for, although I did pay for a restaurant meal that totaled $20.

Day 28: chicken, potato, sweet potato, bananas – $8.39

Day 29: cabbage, seasoned chicken, onions, potatoes, papaya, wild rice cakes – $16.94

I can’t wait til this chest diminishes

If you look at McCombs’ Candida Plan Quick Guide, you see that at the start of week 9 I can add back dried fruit, juices, soy sauce, vinegar, legumes, tofu, nuts and popcorn. I have no desire to eat soy sauce, tofu or popcorn, but it’ll be EXCELLENT to have dried fruit, pinto beans and peanut butter again. And adding vinegar means enjoying mayonnaise and mustard. Come on, week 9! That lands on Dec. 27 and gives me yet another reason to wish December away as quickly as possible.

  1. I don抰 even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I don’t know who you are but definitely you’re going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!

  2. I believe that avoiding packaged foods is a first step to help lose weight. They will taste good, but packaged foods contain very little nutritional value, making you take in more to have enough power to get over the day. In case you are constantly having these foods, transferring to cereals and other complex carbohydrates will help you have more vigor while consuming less. Interesting blog post.
