McCombs Candida Plan: Day 15

Previous post on this topic: McCombs Candida Plan: Day 7

It’s been two weeks that I’ve been healing my candida albicans problem with Dr. Jeffrey McCombs’ Candida Plan and it’s going well. I’m still surprised to have had no sugar cravings. I’ve suffered a little boredom from eating so many meals seasoned only with salt, pepper, cold-pressed oils and herbs, but besides that this has been pretty easy for me. I also continue to enjoy the sweat baths which I find quite relaxing, and I use them to listen to YouTube videos of Joe Dispenza which impress upon my brain the importance of using his meditation every morning. They also give me hope for a life free of mood disorders, food addiction and about 60 pounds (27.2 kg) of excess body fat.

I’ve always been a big water-drinker, but the hard part of all this has been getting the required water inside me. The McCombs Plan requires one quart (.95 liter) for every 50 pounds (22.7 kg.) of body weight, which puts me at four quarts (3.8 liters) a day. That’s a lot, even if it’s all I drink, and it’s downright annoying for someone with an overactive bladder problem! It means I’m never far from a bathroom, but with current Covid conditions, I’m not away from home much anyway (so that kind of works).

It’s often at around 9:00 p.m. (I go to bed at 10:30 p.m.) when I look at that last half quart and just can’t do it. Three and half quarts of water a day for this 200-pound woman will have to be enough.

And that brings me to my weight loss. I started at 206 pounds (93.4 kg) and am now down to 199 pounds (90.3 kg). Seven pounds in two weeks is slow, especially considering this diet, but I’ll take it. My clothes are definitely looser.

I’m trying to keep my early morning grocery runs capped at $10, but it hasn’t quite worked out. I’m still hoping at the end of the month it will all average to $10 a day. Resuming where I left off in my last grocery-focused post

Day 7: Lemons, avocados, eggs, papaya, bananas, apples, potatoes – $9.21

Day 8: Ground chuck roast (hamburger), apples – $7.69

Day 9: White fish, avocados, lemons – $9.39

Day 10: Chicken, apples, potato – $6.06

Day 11: Trout – $8.63

Day 12: Brown rice cakes, miniature (portable) bottle of olive oil, seasonings, banana – $10.52

Day 13: Ground chuck (hamburger), eggs, peaches, potatoes, lemons, bananas – $12.92

Also ordered dinner delivered: a burger plus chicken tenders ran me $36.54. Ouch! Hope I don’t do that again.

Day 14: Didn’t need to shop because I had enough in the apartment.

Day 15: brown rice, ground chuck (hamburger), onion, ginger root, 500 ml bottle of olive oil – $18.23

What’s startling is that I’ve consumed most of a 500 ml. bottle of olive oil in two weeks! But it’s all I cook with, I’m cooking three meals a day, plus at the table I often drizzle it over my rice and other foods. Maybe another person would use a variety of oils plus butter on their meals, but I’m just using olive oil, so I really go through it.

Two weeks down, fourteen to go. At the start of week 9 I get to add nuts and legumes to my diet. That almost coincides with Christmas Day, giving me another reason to look forward to my favorite day of the year because I love nuts and beans.

I posted yesterday about how much it sucks to be a solo dweller when others are celebrating holidays with members of their households, but don’t worry. I have one friend who has agreed to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas Day with me, so I’ll be okay. Plus I’ll have nuts!
