A couple of weeks ago, I published a story on Medium.com (they call them “stories,” not posts or articles) about how sheltering in place is terrible for anyone managing an addiction, especially the newly sober/on-the-wagon. I used my experience plus some addiction stats.
Medium has publications within its website and one is ZORA which features writing by women of color. I had been wondering how to get my writing on that publication when an editor from ZORA contacted me about my story. They wanted to feature it! This includes being paid $200 for them to promote my story. I told them it was a deal.
They helped me edit it for length and focus. They changed the photo. And today it went up on the ZORA webpage. I’m very excited. It’s the first time I’ve been a featured author on a website that pays money for stories!
