I Love “Hidden Brain.” It’s My Favorite Podcast

I can’t get enough of learning about how the brain works from addiction to building relationships to humor. If human behavior fascinates you, I recommend National Public Radio’s Hidden Brain podcast.

The last three podcasts included:

  1. How we form and break habits (helped me get back to the gym).
  2. How we influence each other more powerfully than we realize, from advertising to asking “May I have your seat?”
  3. What sets of twins who were separated at birth tell us about how the brain forms behaviors and patterns.

Host and executive editor Shankar Vedantam does an excellent job every time of interviewing experts on topics that I’m always interested in. With lots of podcasts I pick the ones that sound interesting and skip over quite a few. I never skip a Hidden Brain show. Every single topic makes me go, “Oh, yeah. Let’s listen to that.”

Do you just sit and listen to a podcast? I find myself distracted and wishing I could somehow “scan” the the podcast, as I would a written article. I’d like to know the info in podcasts but never seem to have an opportunity to listen.

I doubt many people just sit and listen to a podcast. I listen while cooking, cleaning, exercising at the gym, commuting and sometimes while working.
