Dentists Are Fine With Me

Am I the only one in the world who doesn’t dread going to the dentist? I’m very relaxed in the chair, with slurping things hanging out of my mouth and whirring, shrieking things going in. No problem.

My favorite dental story is about the time I had this older, traditional dentist who needed to take a mold of my tooth, so a crown could be made. When the goopy tooth cement tray (or whatever it’s called) had been stuck to my gums for several minutes, he pulled it out and examined the imprint.

“Hm,” he grunted. “That didn’t quite come out. We’re going to have to do that over again.”

I hesitated, then said, “That’s strange. I’m usually very good at impressions.”

The old guy chuckled briefly and I knew I had succeeded at dental humor!

So, is there anyone else out there who does NOT dread dental appointments? Am I really the only one?

I guess when you're a kid, the fear of the unknown always kicks in. But once you get used to the experience, everything will be a breeze. But not everyone relates to this thought; some adults are still afraid of going to the dentist. Perhaps, it was a bad experience that made them anxious about it and they carried the memory and the terrifying feeling until they grew up. So, we can't really blame them if going to the dentist is a struggle.

When I was a kid, a trip to the dentist was the highlight of my day because she always gives me sweets and then tells my mom that it’s okay for me to eat sweet as long as it’s in moderation. But, I think my mom doesn't know the meaning of moderation. Hahaha! Anyhow, she seldom gives me sweets that's why going to the dentist really excites me. She can manhandle my teeth all she wants, as long as she gives me candies as a reward. Hahaha!

Are you kidding? At our age, you expect that our generation will enjoy dentists or be indifferent? Two words for you: WISDOM TEETH.

I don't mind going to the dentist. My teeth appreciate the dentist!
